It was 1975 when Maurice Lacroix emerged from Desco of the Schulthess AG. Desco had already gained a wealth of experience in the distribution of watches. In 1961, the parent company of the watch brand bought an assembly plant in Saignelégier and produced high-quality watches there under the label of other manufacturers. For Desco, founding its own watch brand was an almost logical step. The first watches produced by the company came onto the market in the year it was founded. The choice of name fell on Maurice Lacroix - one of the board members of the parent company who died during the founding phase.

Maurice Lacroix quickly made a name for itself and created an identity with distinctive watches, which were based on craftsmanship tradition with a good portion of creativity. The stylised M became the trademark of Maurice Lacroix ladies' and men's watches. And the journey continues: a watch calibre of its own was the next milestone for the young brand. It was installed in a Masterpiece Chronograph - the collection in which the company unites its top watches. Since 2006, Maurice Lacroix has therefore been allowed to call itself a manufacture and thus has another mark of quality on its side. Legally, the company has only been going its own way since 2001, when it separated from its parent company, Desco.
