Tissot Seastar - The elegant diver's watch
The Tissot Seastar 1000 diver's watches have always been particularly popular, even though they were not originally classified as water sports or diving watches. However, the continuous modernisation of the movements, the development of their functions and the quality of the materials used have made the Seastar 1000 models particularly attractive to water sports enthusiasts.
Thanks to their functionality, design and sporty elegance, these timeless watches are now also defined as sports watches outside the water. The Seastar models are a perfect fit for active men who are looking for a sports watch with a look and functions that are not exclusively intended for sporting activities. Compared to similar models, they are priced in the affordable segment.
The look of the Seastar watch is inspired by the sea. Deep blue tones and casual colour gradients dominate the design of the automatic and quartz watches, bringing the element of water and the diving theme to the fore. The dial has a relatively large diameter, which means that each model in the Tissot Seastar 1000 series sits slightly higher on the wrist and is therefore more comfortable to wear. The design of the timepiece guarantees both efficiency and safety at the highest level of style.
It is not only the nature of the movements that makes the Seastar series a reliable companion. The watches also offer unique functions such as the chronograph of the Limited Edition or the power reserve of the Powermatic 80. The stainless steel bracelet is polished in the middle and satinised on the sides. It also has an extra diver's extension and a folding clasp with push buttons. Depending on the model, the watches come with two different straps. A black rubber strap with pin buckle is normally supplied with the quartz models. Both can be easily changed without tools thanks to a quick release system.
The Tissot Seastar 1000 Automatic range
All watches in the line are covered by a two-year international warranty and are equipped with quartz or automatic movements. The automatic watches include the Tissot Seastar 1000 Powermatic 80 Silicium men's watch, a special edition of the Seastar 1000 Automatic collection. This automatic watch has an 80-hour power reserve. Its case and case-back are made of stainless steel, which have been PVD-treated to give them a golden colour. Like the other models in the collection, this special edition is water-resistant to 30 bar and to a depth of 300 metres. Thanks to an integrated silicon spiral, the functionality of the watch is not affected by magnetic fields.
For underwater sports enthusiasts, whose activities involve a certain level of risk, reliability and water resistance are the most important aspects. This is why Tissot subjects the Seastar 1000 models to specific quality tests during the manufacturing process, simulating real-life conditions.
The ideal diver's watch
The result is a watch that guarantees maximum safety at great depths. Robust sapphire crystal makes the watch extremely shock-resistant. Used in the art of watchmaking for its durability, this glass is particularly resistant to scratching. An anti-reflective coating on the underside of the glass ensures that readability is not impaired, as is the case with the Tissot Seastar 1000 Chronograph.
The crown is fitted with a gasket, and all screw-down pushers and casebacks ensure that no water, gas or dust can penetrate the watch. In recent years, Tissot has upgraded the materials used in the Tissot Seastar 1000, including the bezel. The anti-clockwise rotating bezel has an extra grip and, in the case of the current Seastar series, becomes slimmer towards the top. It is made of aluminium or ceramic and is available in blue and black. The dial of all models, whether automatic or quartz, is luminescent. This makes the hands and indexes of the watches easy to read not only in the dark, but also in difficult underwater conditions.
The stainless steel cases are relatively large. The Tissot Seastar 1000 Professional Limited Edition has the largest at 48 mm. An automatic movement powers a unique automatic chronograph. This diver's watch is limited to 1000 pieces worldwide and meets all the requirements of the ISO 6425 international diving standard. When diving at great depths, air and helium accumulate in the case and expand upon surfacing, so the Limited Edition is also equipped with a helium valve. The valve on the men's watch opens automatically to allow the air-helium mixture to escape.
