The Junghans company, founded in 1861 in southwest Germany, attaches great importance to four components: craftsmanship, care, precision and an eye for original design. Max Bill is a very special Junghans model: It is named after an award-winning Swiss architect (1908-1994). He developed a collection of mechanical watches together with Junghans in 1961. The dials in particular were characterised by Bill's sense of design. Completely new numerals and a domed crystal were developed. The result was a purist and classic watch that reflected the work of the famous architect and designer. Today, the model is back - marked by the same style and improved wearing comfort.
A timeless classic in a new guise
The new edition of the Junghans Max Bill watches for men and women clearly returns to the roots of the series in terms of style and impresses above all with the unique design of its dial. The design icon with a purist and simple look has remained virtually untouched since 1961. Every conceivable change made to the new Max Bill collection must be approved by the architect's descendants. In this way, the essential aspect and origin of the series is to be preserved, and only technical optimisations are in the foreground. Thus, a guiding principle from the Bauhaus, where Bill studied, can be found at every corner and edge of the eponymous watch: "Beautiful is what works."
Junghans Max Bill movements and models
The hand-wound model comes closest to the original from the 1960s. Even back then, Bill placed a lot of value on the easy readability of the time, which is why he reduced the dial designs in the first instance by all components that were not absolutely necessary. What remained were the Arabic numerals, three hands for hours, minutes and seconds, as well as the fine lines at the edge. He also left the shape of the dial in its most original and simple arrangement, as it was already known from Max Bill's wall clock and table clock: a circle.
Today, the Junghans Max Bill shines in a new light, but remains stylistically true to itself. In the meantime, however, customers have many options with regard to the wristbands and, in addition to the classic models, timepieces with chronographs (the Max Bill Chronoscope) are also available for purchase.

Purism meets craftsmanship
Since Junghans first released this timepiece, the German watch manufacturers kept it true to its roots and only ensured that the quality is always updated to the highest. What needed to change was the wearing comfort of the original wrist watches. This is done above all by the many different and particularly comfortable bracelets. Depending on the material, the watches can be securely fastened to your wrist with either a buckle or a clip. Whether nylon, stainless steel or leather - the choice is yours!
Most of the models in the Max Bill collection also have a stainless steel case, which is usually in classic silver and is rounded off by the particularly shatter-proof Hesalite glass or sapphire crystal. True to the original, the dial is always circular and usually white, although the colour palette varies in individual cases.
